The Man Without A Face

Norstadt slowly grows to trust McLeod in the movie “The Man Without A Face”. At the beginning of the movie, Norstadt is like everyone else. He doesn’t truth McLeod and thinks of him as this evil, mysterious man. He soon realized that he was a teacher and decides to seek help in him as a last resort.  McLeod is able to test Nordstadt to see if he is actually looking for help or just joking. Every time Nordstadt would go over to McLeod’s house he slowly began to look past how the world saw him and gained a new view of McLeod.  Through his own understanding of McLeod, Nordstadt realizes how false the accusations against him are.  Because of this tutoring Nordstadt could go to the military school that he tried so hard to get into. Nordstadt also begins to get an understanding of McLeod, because of his interactions with him. Near the end of the movie more serious accusations arise about McLeod and he is not allowed to see Nordstadt anymore. One of the final conversations that they have includes Nordstadt being confused on whom to believe, McLeod or everyone else.  This is the problem that Nordstadt couldn’t cheat on. He must choose for himself if he was going to trust McLeod because of the interactions that he had with him or was he going to follow the crowd and agree with what they said. He ultimately chooses to go with his gut instinct and believe McLeod based on his experience with him.
